Tempurpedic is described by some as the best of the best in orthopedic care.
Just like memory foam it’s origins come from an originbal NASA formula. Nasa wanted to develop a material to help protect astronauts in space and control the pressure from G forces as the transport took off from Earth. The material was never fully developed the way they intended, but Tempur-Pedic found a use for it in the many pressure relief and comfort and support products avalable on the market today.
An alternative variant, usually made from polyurethane foam or visco-elastic foam is memory foam. Unlike Memory foam, tempurpedic foam is a propriatery formula unique to Tempur-Pedic, and Tempur-Pedic is the only mattress and pillow manufacturer to be recognized by NASA as well as the Space Foundation.
With memory foam, it’s a generic term used to descrive a foam manufactured by a number of manufacturers. Naturally, the quality varies, as do the claims about densities, pressure relief and other benefits this foam will provide.
That’s not to say that quality of memory foam isn’t high, just that the quality and longevity may not be as long as you’d hope, due to the differences between products on the market and the claims that go with it.
